John,
Thanks.
I already have the metal fillers/spacers etc. Just need to decide whether or not to use the replacement channel sections that I also have or bite the bullet and start again.
Cheers,
Neil

Yeah sure, the company in the UK is SP panels (SP PANELS- Body panel Specialists), I bought the S3 gal left and right door tops without glass :
Galvanised Unglazed Series 3 Left Hand Front Door Top
Galvanised Unglazed Series 3 Right Hand Front Door Top
I am very happy with the quality of the door tops, the only glitch is that with the doors being hot dipped, the bolt threads are clogged up with gal, so I needed a nut die to clean the threads.
I also bought their full glazing kit (bailey channel and metal parts)
SERIES 2/3 FRONT DOOR TOP FULL GLAZING KIT
But the channel quality was very poor, so I complained and got my money back and I didn't have to send the kit back. I will actually use the metal bits from this kit, and I have now bought better quality from Ho Hars (Series Land Rover Rescue).
Oh, and the cost incl delivery was just under $400.
Cheers,
John

I have a replacement channel kit for my S3 that I bought a couple of years ago from the UK that I have finally gotten around to fitting. However, the channel itself is starting to rust and the rubber outer isn’t terrific. Not so sure of its likely longevity despite painting the housing in the door frame and cut ends of channel with zinc primer.
I ran across someone the other day who had apparently used a similar dimensioned channel that was principally stainless steel or aluminium that supposedly was still going strong after nearly fifteen years - couldn’t remember where it came from. I guess some local caravans, boats etc have sliding windows that have been made with a similar channel set up.
Anyone with experience on this?
Cheers,
Neil
A quick search came up with this Main Channel - Flexible with Stainless Edge 1.52 M length : 350-5266 - Old~Era Services
I didn't check the dimensions but sounds about right, getting expensive though.....
I have a Series III that sits outside in the weather and the window channel I fitted is fading from black to brown. Probably rusting away as well, I do remember paint dipping the ends because they were rusty when I went to fit them.
