Series 3 Heater and Blower wiring

    Hi.
Thought I would do a little thread on the Heater/Blower wiring.
Some of the info is from another Thread, as I don't have it included in any of my 4 manuals, wiring diagrams.

According to the wiring diagram the heater wire doesn't go through the fuse box but directly from the ignition and starter switch to the heater switch with an inline fuse somewhere along the way.

The Brown/Red (orange) wire from the ignition switch, goes to terminal 4 of the heater switch.
Green and Yellow, is connected to terminal 6 on the heater switch.
Green and White (Brown) is connected to terminal 8.
The two connected wires then goes toward the heater, under the parcel shelf and through the LH side firewall grommits.
In the switches first position, the Green and Yellow wire passes though a coil of wire, acting as a resistor, then to the Blower via the black wire. which cause the slower speed.
The switches second position, Green and white wire, puts the full 12v to the Black wire to the Blower.
The small bracket is bolted to the firewall using one of the Heater box top bolts.

    Hello from Sherwood.

I came across this thread tonight and it was timely.

Working on the ignition switch on my Series 3 truck today I noticed a loose wire that I traced to the heater fan switch. Wasn’t sure if it had come off the ignition switch but assumed it had.

Was just as described in the original post - in-line fuse and not run through the fuse box. Ditto searches of the Series 3 wiring diagrams in both the green workshop manual and Haynes don’t show the fan switch.

    Appreciate the lead.

    Cheers,

    Neil
