    Rear Rego Plate

    Hi.
Where do NSW Landy owners mount the rear plate.
Seem only one size and two long, on either side of the tube door.
    Intrested to see pics.
Not quite at that point Gav.
    Got a quote from Shannon's. $575
    Heading into NRMA
Full comp, agreed value $20.000 pay out and still retain damaged vehicle.
    Any others to try.
    Thank You.

Almost all Series Landrovers sold in Australia came with the number plate mounted on a bracket hinged to the centre rib on the tailgate so it shows when travelling with the tailgate down.

If you are prepared to allow half an inch of the plate to be covered by the seal area of the tailgate it will fit either side, which is what I have on my current 2a.

A bit of 'trimming' to fit ?

Is it legal to trim a number plate?

    Probably not
I had a Auxiliary plate on my Mitsy motor bike carrier.
That size would be perfect, But Probably not legal.

On the 2a in my picture above, about half an inch of the LH edge of the plate is covered when the tailgate is closed. Been like that for over 25 years without a peep from anyone.

But the factory supplied solution is the hinged tailgate carrier shown on the Series 1.

Of course the other solution is that of the optional (and costly) NSW smaller plates.

I mounted the no plate on my 80" under the L/ H tail light I also made one of the ramps they use on the Defenders as the plate sticks out the side about 25mm , stops people walking into the plate & bending it. I will post up a photo tomorrow when I get back from my trip & can use my desk top.

OK back from trip to Narrabri. These are what I have done. 20190612_083347.jpg20190612_083357.jpg20190612_083420.jpg20190612_083431.jpgIMAG2200.jpg
Sorry about the photo's being on there side bit since I have been taking photo's with Samsung phone they always post on here sideways. I didn't attach it to the side panel didn't want to put any holes in the side but did stick some felt on the bracket so it wouldn't scratch the paint. One day when I win Lotto I will get Special Interest Plates that will fit but @ $2500 can not justify it now.

The number plates on my series vehicles all get a smidge trimmed off the edge so that they fit, then they are attached to the right of the tailgate.
As per the Vicroads requirement, they are all clearly visible at a distance of twenty meters.

    Cheers, Mick.
