    Bodywork and paint Melbourne

    Hi there,

I have a Series 3 Lightweight. I’d like to tidy the doors up a little. Replace rotten door bottoms and get the doors nicely painted. Would anyone be able to recommend a workshop that may be able to help? I’m located in Melbourne, quite south.

Thank you in advance if anyone can help, Simon

Most panel shops wouldn't be interested or are likely to try & bog it up. As I do this type of thing myself I can't help with a recommendation.

You really need to de-skin the door, weld in a repair section to the frame and then re-skin and finish & paint. Not sure if the door frame sections are identical to Series II & III because these are readily available.

You'd be looking for someone old-school who regularly works on older vehicles. Plenty of people advertise, here's one Classic and Muscle Car Restorations in Melbourne they seem to do full restorations and panel work.

Maybe contact one or two of the Land Rover parts suppliers and see who they recommend.

    Best of luck,

    Colin

Cheers Colin, I’ve got the repair section and removed the door tops. I think I’ll take your advice and de-skin the door...then I’ve enlisted the help of someone more handy with a welder than me to do the bottom section. Simon
