LR and or defender body dropped on the heavily worked Disco 1 chassis?

I'm sure it has been asked and answered before but what LR body types will fit a disco 1 chassis? TIA

Not sure what your asking , as a 'drop on' fit only a Disco 1 Body will fit a Disco 1 Chassis .

If your good with a plasma cutter, welder & rivet gun you can fit any body on a Disco 1 chassis, A bloke in the UK even has a Pajero body on one.

When it comes to that you can fit any body on any chassis .

Fitting a Defender body on a D1 chassis is relatively easy but by no means a bolt on job. You will also need to shorten the body to suit the 100" wheelbase.

Or lengthen the chassis to fit. It can be done though, as goingbush says.

One point to watch though is to ensure that it meets all the applicable ADRs and state modification rules if you have ideas of running it on the road. Talk to an engineer about your plans before you spend much money!

I'm actually thinking of putting my Series3 Trayback onto a Disco1 chassis , Just need to shorten the tray a tad.

Heres a vehicle I built up in 1980's , Series 2 body on a shortened RRC chassis , I had to work it out myself as there were no Youtube instruction in those days. Everything you need to know is online now. But as John says , if its for road use you need to consult a VASS Engineer first .

Below is a picture of a Defender body transplanted onto a Disco 1 Chassis, I can't remember who did it but pretty sure they are on here , its fully engineered & road approved. I reckon it looks better as a 100" than a 90 or 110.

You need to look at the series "A 4x4 is Born" A 4x4 Is Born - Mark Evans

There are about 14 episodes and if you google them you will find them online - puts a defender on a disco chassis.
