NEED ADVICE - Rebuild 186 - or swap for ready to go 202

    IN NEED OF ADVICE

I'm nearing ever closer to getting my 1974 SIII 109 back on the road with blue slip after 15 years stored in a farm shed. It starts first time, runs, stops and has ticked all the requirements but the engine is still a bit smokey.

Do I take the 186 out and rebuild or swap it out for a newly reconditioned 202 ready to go? Looks like the 186 needs new valve stem seals and tappet cover at a glance, but I could also be opening up a can or worms here!

    cheers

I'd swap it out for the 202.
    Cheers

Will it be easier to register with the engine number shown on the old rego papers or compliance/conversion plate?

it doesn't have any old redo papers and the blue slip will have (potentially) the new 202 engine number put on it
