Ian,
The pedal pivot is bushed and the shaft often has a grease nipple but the trunnion at the end that attaches to the master cylinder shaft doesn't. The only way to lubricate is to remove the pedal box top cover.
If you look at the pictures in the 1st post you'll see the wear in the trunnion pin and the pedal arm. This was from an ex army IIa so it probably led a hard life.
