As with the others, I bought five unused Road Grippers that were taken off a new Landcruiser. Excellent tyre for my application.

These were Japanese manufactured and cost me $120 each tyre. I had to get new tubes which might have added about $120 to the total.

Toyota went to a new non-split rim some time ago and I don’t think you will find as many of the unused tyres around as was the case before then.

I thought these tyres still come on the base 70's model with steel rims?? There doesn't seem to be a great selection of brands in this size with Dunlop and Bridgestone being the only 2 that I can find... Is there many on here that run these tyres on their Defenders & if so, how have they found them when driving unloaded and Full Loaded on their Defenders?

    Hello again from Brisbane.

My earlier comment was not referring to Road Gripper availability in general - they still fit them to the base model Landcruisers.

Rather it was an observation that the ready availability of cheap unused Road Grippers was probably drying up with the demise of the split rim wheels on the trucks.

    Cheers,

Thanks for that... I like the higher profile tyre and just thought these would be a good option instead of fitting a 285/75/16. This was I still get the same rolling circumference as the 285/75 but in a skinny tyre

Both my 2a and 110 are running Bridgestone 604V. I've had them on the 110 for about 25 years, and quite happy with them, but they are expensive and getting a bit hard to find.
