Road Grippers. Many years ago I used to buy them by the hundred for an off road fleet of Landcruisers. They were the "tyre of the day" so to speak. Very much one tough tyre which stood up well to hard work.
I have 4 Land Rovers on Road Grippers including my Defender.
There are apparently 2 versions, the Japanese made one that used to come in fitted to Troopys and another but I can't remember the codes.
I purchased 2 sets on new split rims. Toyota tubes are no good (valve position & length) and nobody really wants to pay for the split rims. Plenty of people advertise Road Grippers and occasionally a set come up that someone has in their garage.
I've been paying $25 for tubes from a truck joint locally but that was a while ago.

Hello from Brisbane.
As with the others, I bought five unused Road Grippers that were taken off a new Landcruiser. Excellent tyre for my application.
These were Japanese manufactured and cost me $120 each tyre. I had to get new tubes which might have added about $120 to the total.
Toyota went to a new non-split rim some time ago and I don’t think you will find as many of the unused tyres around as was the case before then.
Cheers,
Neil

WHB,
I have looked at these to put on my S3 rims as they are very close to the same size as 7.50 x 16 and are a good tyre as others have said. I was going to run tubes, although the tyres are tubeless. Comes down to your views on running a tubeless bead on a tube type rim. My preference is not to.

Colin,
You are right. The current RoadGrippers are coming off standard rims and are tubeless.
