    Cracked plug

    Good evening.
Rossco, S1 has a seized motor.
Removed 1,2,3 but 4 cracked off the hex nut.
What would be the best thing to try and remove it.
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
smash, top to bottom or snap electrode, and smash up ?
Rigid extractor being 'Easy out' ? Mmm don't like them, broken a couple.
Thinking of buying some 'Heat' any affordable options ?

If you’re going to spent the money get oxy + gas and torch. Used to be called portapac, small bottles. LPG doesn’t get hot enough IMO

Bunnings (I think) or BOC. Bottle rental is expensive but they do have deals

either way is fine for getting the ceramic out,

no a rigid is not an easy out it does the same job but is parallel splined not a helical cut, in the application you've got if you snap it you just tap it through with a pin punch.

you dont need oxy levels of heat, you're not trying to melt it out just introduce some expansion/contraction a good 240v hot air gun or a cheapy butane gas torch will be plenty.

Smash the ceramic out and use an appropriate size left hand helix drill. Soak for a night or so with some sort of penetrating oil first. The cutting thrust of the LH drill usually just winds the stuck thread out.

the high quality sets of ezy outs comes with the appropriate sized left handed drills and are made of a metal thats on the opposite end of the hardness scale as britpart 10 splines. (no, Im not kidding, its near they're near as damnit harder than diamonds do not forget they are left hand drills and burn one up and snap it in a hole, you will not be happy, EDM or violence are your only solutions. they dont even have the decency to melt with an oxy)

That'd be the reason you have 25 1947 Centre Steer S1s in your back garden?

+1 to this. Oxy & Acet are both available at Bunnings now as a swap and go. $200 fully refundable deposit per bottle, no rental fee. (Argon & some form of MIG mix also).
