Series Door Top Repairs - Rebuild Not Using Bought Parts

    Hello All,

Can anyone locate some earlier posts where someone explained how they went about rebuilding their Series door tops? For want of better wording, the repairs involved the horizontal "fascia panel" or external "skin" that runs directly under the bottom window slides. Their photographs showed how it looked like this section had more rust than anything else. This fascia/skin was removed and replaced with new metal. Some other repairs to the door frame, underneath the fascia were also carried out.

I carried out a "Search" on AULRO and I could not find it.

Does the description of the window repairs - not using prefabricated bought parts sound familiar to anyone?

I have also checked YouTube and most clips are about having to modify replacement door tops from different manufacturers and having to make them fit.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Lionel,
Doortops are considered a 'consumable'. Not really worth the effort of repairing considering the cost of new ones.
Door Top, alloy clad, unglazed LH - Series 3 - Paddock Spares
If you put together a reasonable sized order the freight cost isn't too bad.

When you get new ones either get galvanised ones or paint the inside of the hollow sections (details in my thread on Wallit).

Chazza makes door bottom repair panels.
Lionel is looking at repairing a doortop, as far as I know there are no repair panels for these.
You could cut it apart and fabricate a panel but I don't think it's worthwhile when they are not expensive to replace.

    Hello All,

Thank you for the replies Jim, Gav and Colin. It looks like it is one of those instances where I should have copied and pasted the URL, and then emailed it to myself.

It is like stuff you see on Facebook Marketplace one night and the next morning you can never find it again. I have to remember ... see something copy down the URL - DOH!

    Kind regards
    Lionel

Found it for you, I think.....

Wandering between sheds today it came to me. It's probably the repair of LWB second row doors which are very expensive so worth the trouble of repairing, I still wouldn't bother with front doortops.
