    Locking diffs

    I was looking at pulling the diffs to do some work, and was considering some ARB air lockers while I was in there. The ARB part number for 10-spline series vehicles seems to be RD127, but their website seems to indicate they're for a 3.54:1 diff. I've got the earlier 4.7:1 differentials, but I think it should work the same, right? The crown wheel should bolt onto the casing the same, and the casing is the main component the ARB kit replaces.

    Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this.

    I've been pondering this one for a few days, I vaguely recall there are differences between the 4.7:1 and 3.54:1 diffs, I think they moved from imperial to metric measurements.

    This all should be verified independently as I'm looking back at my own research from 10 years ago (I wouldn't trust that bloke), post #2 in this thead Diff Lockers, but it seems the metric bearings used on the 3.54 have a slightly smaller outer diameter, and the location of the CW&P varies slightly as well. Ashcroft sell adapters to fix both issues: 4.7 Spacer ring - Ashcroft Transmissions - Ashcroft Transmissions and Imperial Bearing Sleeves - Ashcroft Transmissions

    Thanks for the links Martin, if I end up going through with it then I'll probably end up using both of those. Not sure how I got the idea that the diff centres were the same when I could've just looked up the part number. In any case, that thread was good reading - I don't know why Google didn't find it.

    No the 3.54 Crownwheel is in a different alignment to the 4.7 crown wheel,

    However you can buy 4.75 gears from Ashcroft that fit the 3.54 carrier. That is what Ive done on my Series3 Lightweight.

    In the rear I have a 24 spline 3.5 True trac with Ashcroft 4.75 gears, in the front I have 10 spline 4.7 true tracc with original gears.

    There is no ill effects from slightly different gearing in 4WD , no more than running different pressures
