I've been pondering this one for a few days, I vaguely recall there are differences between the 4.7:1 and 3.54:1 diffs, I think they moved from imperial to metric measurements.
This all should be verified independently as I'm looking back at my own research from 10 years ago (I wouldn't trust that bloke), post #2 in this thead Diff Lockers, but it seems the metric bearings used on the 3.54 have a slightly smaller outer diameter, and the location of the CW&P varies slightly as well.
