Like Tombie and Pete said, NO. I work on heaps of these and apart from the odd leak from intermediate shaft O rings and some wear and tear at high KM's with the High range selector sleeve, hub and dogs, they are a near bulletproof item. Apart from the rear diff ('02 should still have the sals)they are possibly the toughest part of your rig
So, after that caning, what is the reason for your query?

    Thanks Just.C.

I had heard of people changing out transfer cases but that may be more to do with gearing than anything else.

Mate, spend enough time on a vehicle forum and you'll hear of everything going wrong most forums get used to find advice for problems, not for "my vehicle is just great and never causes problems" posts.

Good point Tombie but I guess that is just one function of this great site.
    The collective knowledge is unequalled.
So people like me who are familiar with Discoveries and Series vehicles will use the knowledge base of other vehicle owners to identify any known /potential problems and be aware or rectify up front.
I intend to use ours for remote area trips and reliability is paramount.
Again , my intent is not to dis the Fenders in any way.
I'd really like to get into one.
I actually think the transfer case comment was from a fellow forumite who bought some wheels off me.
When I delivered them we talked about his Fender and changes/improvements he had made.
I think he was also looking into a Mike Vine Turbo set up on hs TD5
Thanks again for all the good feedback
