    Australian S3 galvanised chassis ?

I've been offered a '74 S3 diesel shorty in bits.
The seller claims he fitted a galvanised chassis sourced from a company in Sydney some years ago, was someone making/selling these in Australia ?

A s/h bulkhead is included (not sure if it's the correct one), the diesel engine has been left out in the open, and while most of it is about 3 hours drive from Melbourne some of it is stored on the outskirts of Melbourne.
It's not really what I was looking for but it's only a few hundred dollars (plus trailer hire & fuel !). Experience tell me it will be incomplete but could be parted out.
On the plus side the doors & tub look OK from the pictures I've seen.

    Decisions, decisions.....

Some people gal their chassis as part of their restoration. I walked past a S1 with a gal chassis the other day. There are quite a few around.

There are a couple of places that'll bring them in for you.

I had my chassis and firewall galvanised and I'm about to have an ex military S3 LWB galvanised. I searched for a while to find a place in Australia that makes chassis here and found none.

    Thanks Guys,

Must have been an import or maybe a s/h chassis that was galvanised locally.

Just need to make my mind up whether I need another Landy to add to the collection. As mentioned before I'm always wary of stripped vehicles because parts are almost always missing.

I collect the wings for the S3 diesel today and have to arrange to hire a trailer to collect the rest of the car in a few weeks time.
Not sure yet what to do with this one, I'll make up my mind when I finally get to see the rest of the car and work out how complete it is. The galvanised chassis makes it a keeper but I guess it depends on the overall condition of the engine, panels etc.

Looks like I need to get rid of the S1 chassis & tub on the driveway to make room.......

Thanks, I was looking for a 107'' pickup chassis for a 6x6 project, as the one I hoped to used was badly affected by fire.

Doesn't time fly, I finally collected the S3 diesel with the gal chassis after the owner started hassling me. It was in his way at a holiday property and he wanted in gone.......

It was at Goughs Bay (beside Lake Eildon) and was an abandoned project. A repaired galvanised chassis had been used but the project ran out of momentum so it had been left out in the open for some years. There are some new parts like the front bumper, front springs, and one bar-tread tyre, the problem is that some parts were in plastic buckets which had filled with water, motor is siezed, some parts are missing, some are beyond saving so it's a parts car.....
It took two trips to collect, one to get all the loose parts and yesterday we took off garage doors, moved boat & outboards, pumped up tyres and extracted the rolling chassis.

I need to part it out soon (so I'm told) especially as I take delivery of a S2 109 shortly. I intend to hang on to some parts but the rest will be advertised in 'Markets'.

I also still need a home for the 86" S1 chassis on the driveway....
