    Noobie Upgrading to Deefer

    Hey Everyone,

I am looking at Upgrading my current drive (Hilux SR5) to a new Defender Crew Cab.

Ive had Range Rovers and Disco as previous vehicles. But now we are going all the way. Currently in Negotiation with a dealership in Brisbane at the moment.

Looking at a 110 Crew Cab. Good Choice???

A couple of Questions. Does anyone know a good Landrover Mechanic in Cairns/Weipa?

How will it drive compared to my Hilux?

Ive been reading everyone's comments for the past couple of days they are brilliant.

Anything else I should be looking for.

    Thanks

    Paul

Defenders require one to be slightly masochistic. You need a mindset away from luxury to admiring rugged simplicity. Once you do, you wouldn't have anything else. Off the bitumen, there is nothing better. And no one on this site is biased.

That is what I am hoping for. We live in Cape York Queensland. I am looking for something a little more rugged than my current drive. Also looking for something (with the right upgrades) which will do my family for at least 7-8 years. Lets hope the dealer comes to the party?!?!?!
    Thanks for your response

My 110 crew cab is now about one month old. I am amazed at the torque of the motor - I reckon it will easily out pull your Hilux. It really is pretty good to drive on the open road and you will be surprised at the passing ability etc.
If you are over about 5'8'' tall, buy some seat runners to extend the stretch. These trucks are built like a brick.

    Hi there,

well I drive Hilux 4x4's all the time at work and the ride is slightly softer on the Hilux's, as ours have auto, it's smoother on the road and quieter. The Defender will be noiser in the cab, however its all round better off road as I have taken both vehicles to the limit, and would pick a defender straight off. I Love my defender, and I even prefer it to my wifes new santa fe.

I do my own servicing, however if it's a new one, try a local dealer in Cairns, as this would be better than trying to repair it yourself, for Warranty and peace of mind.

    Thank Mark
