Coil Spacers
Hi All,
Realise this has been discussed a lot BUT couldn't find definative answer.
Looking to install 40mm (2 inches) of coil spacers in the Defender.
LR ones are avail from 4H (ebay - Steve Hobbs).
This is the product:

Main reason is to level out front after steel bars/winches etc and get bit more clearance.
Will l get coil binding in a 110 with 2 inches of coil spacers?
Do l need to mod anything with 2 inch lift (castor corrections etc)

A potential drawback is the spring binding on compression. In practice, its unlikely unless you use a big spacer (40mm is up there....) and the spring is tightly wound. I use 15mm spacers on the front with no issues.
A plus is that they provide a small NVH improvment by insulating the spring from the chassis.

a set of raised springs can be had for ~$300....why dont you just buy them straight out?

Hi,
I have been using such spacers for years without any problem, what amazed me is the price, they are sold over here for 10 USD.
One note, they will not fit for the rear springs of a Land Rover as those are larger than the front ones.

Coil bind WILL become an issue, as you introduced 2"s of solid mass into the suspension, also with a 2" lift, plus what you have, your castor angles will require fixing
sounds as though you require front springs with a firmer rate and more height
