    My Hire Vehicle

Well while my Defender is sitting up on jack stands in the carport I thought I'd need some transport

So... I borrowed a Landy off a mate of mine for the cost of a service (I have to service it for him)

It's a 1963 IIA SWB Petrol, uses a bit of oil and jumps out of 3rd but I thought Series vehicles came standard with that; or was that an optional extra

I'll have to take some more photos of the inside, but it's just like new. Apart from a few dents the panel work is very straight and it's a dream to drive

Lucky it's not the middle of winter I guess

Very nice! Land Rover should take this idea and supply Series Rovers to the RRS and D4 owners when they get the air freshener cartridges replaced (thats all they do at service time, right?)

And they get the apprentice to do it and charge full rates!

I gave it a wash the other day and scrubbed half the paint off must be the original paint, I also bolted the tyres off the Defender on it

And the almost immaculate, original interior

Something interesting, I was tightening up the wheel bearings this afternoon and noticed how much wear is on the axle splines. Might cause some of the driveline slop

    G'day Jock The Rock

Considering it is a 63 model that looks like it has been well treated, and just showing standard wear for a vehicle that is 47 years old, just wish that you have as little wear on you at that age

The body and paintwork look to be in exellent condition particularly for a commercial vehicle, and a freestone wall builder.

    cheers

Probably causes some of the slop, but is not a major part of it is my guess. That amount of wear is not unusual, or a matter of concern - but I would take a good look at the drive flange - it is probably worn more, and may be a concern.

Thanks I'll check that when I change diff oils sometime next week

Here's some more recent photos, I gave it a wax the other day; so the paintwork no longer feels like sandpaper
