			ULR vs MLR

I realize these both boil down to the same company, but has any one tried both MLR and ULR for their servicing? is ULR as good as MLR for a Defender?

I have a heap of warranty issues to get fixed, and have not been happy with one of them. It's been back a couple of times already, and no improvement has been made, and they keep forgetting to fix things that have been written down. (They don't seem to reconcile the work they did to what they were supposed to do, at least not on my car)

I'm hoping to take it to the other and get a different set of eyes on to it.

I have heard of some good feedback on here from MLR. But not much about ULR.

 My experience with ULR:

In 2002 I was trading a D2 V8 (56K and 3yo) on a new D2 TD5....ULR wouldn't give me a trade in! They said at best they could do was wholesale it and offered 30K as their best offer. Went to Stewart Websters (now closed) and was offered $36K - so I bought the TD5 from them!

Moving forward, I had some issues with my D2 TD5. There were a couple of small items that failed 6 weeks out of warranty 1. cup holder failure of the slide out mechanism, 2. Fading of the Wheel Arch Spats which were a $750 option. ULR said no as it was out of warranty and Landrover Australia would not approve it! They then said the wheel arch spats will fade in the hot Australian sun. I said they didn't tell me that when they were taking the money for them when I bought the car new.

After ringing a few dealers, Lance Dixon in Ferntree Gully said they would look at it for me. Off I drove to them and bingo - they said they would fix - no cost to me.

As they are now closed, I go to their Doncaster Dealership.

So ULR - big mistake, big HUGE!

					Hi
 FWIW
MLR have taken 2 years to finally fix sagging door seals on the Puma of a work colleague. I have had to pick him up fromn there 15 times dropping the 'new' Defender in for Wty work....they just never get all the jobs done and often the fix is temporary.....
They are still yet to work out why the hazard lights activate when we drive the thing down heavily corugated roads....hmmm.

What is a rewal ****er is how they can miss a sagging front door seal when it is the DRIVERS door! Unless their mechanics climb in from the passenger side....bizarre. THey claimed when we pciked it up that they hadn't noticed it!!!!!!!!

ULR have been far better with my TD5 Defender - front diff replaced in 2 two days. All sorted. No fuss. No questions! (Other than, "Mr. Beecham, do you drive through deep water at all?" "No, certainly not." "Ok.")

I currently am using ULR for servicing my 'Puma' defender mainly because they are close to home, and I did buy it there. (they looks after me with more than 10% off retail pricing)

They have fixed several things under warranty for me and done so fairly well.
Having said that, I do have the feeling that the techs probably know the discovery, range rover product better than defenders.

I think it is important though, to have a good rapour with the service manager. I have known some of the staff at ULR for more than 15 years,
and also as a LROCV member you receive a 20% discount on labour and parts at trade prices but I do find you have to always remind them about any discounts.

I have only used MLR once for a basic service many years ago and they did that ok, but I only used them as it was close to work at the time.
