Efficient way of Tagging?
SWMBO and I are digitising all our old hard copy photos and many that belong to older relatives and are looking for an efficient, easy way to tag images. We're talking thousands of images
Irfanview (which I'm using to scan and crop) doesn't do tags.
Windows Photo Gallery is clunky.
PSE7 does it well but I've only got it on one PC.
The canon apps I have don't seem to do tags at all.
Suggestions please
BTW the workflow we are using is scan at 300dpi (a4 size so multiple images to each scan), crop, tag, sort (for further processing), processing. Comments on this are welcome too.

Irfanview does do tags, either single pics, folders or what ever is selected.
In thumbnail viewer select the pics you want to "tag" rightclick and go to jpg lossless operations|set IPTC data, use the keywords tab.
Picasa is probably the easiest, but once the IPTC(tag) data is set most graphics viewers should be able to read it. It certainly works OK between irfanview/picasa.
