    5 Axle Rover ???

    found this on flickr thought someone might know a bit more about it.
    All terrain car able to descend slopes up to 65 degrees. England, 1936.

    you know how it is, when the Mrs says,

    "why do you have all those axles laying about?, if you're not going to use them then get rid of them" ??

    I bet that how this happened.....

    its how my 23 headlight, 16 horn, 2 motor (one siezed) series came about!

    It looks very much like the AEC NT Government road train from the early 1900's except it only had 4 axles. I believe it is in the NT Museum in Alice Springs now.

    Six spoke cast truck spider wheels, no brakes on the front axle. Wonder what it weighed. how many of those wheels are driven, if any. The wheels all have the hub covers of oil lubricated front non-driven truck axles. Is it a mock up of a proposed design perhaps for the military?

    A lot early 4wd`s did not have free wheeling hubs.The front axles were constantly in 4wd mode.Dad had a Blitz that was like this.Soon as you engaged the front drive shaft you were in 4wd.So only seeing axle hub caps would not indicate lack of 4wd or however many drive as the case may be.
