    Question Wheels & Tyre Size

    Hi Guys,
I've recently bought a new campertrailer and I am in the process of upgrading the springs strengths and tyre sizes to a more suitable level.
The question is, I've gotten a hold of 5 x original Range Rover rims, size 16 x 6 inches, I', looking at 7.50r16 (235/85/16) tyres, will they fit this size rim? I've found various alternatives in tyre sizes but few can tell me the required rim size.
    Thanks

    Hi Mate,

Yes 7.50r16 tyres will fit a 16x6 rim....but 7.50r16 tyres are not the same as 235/85/16's.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but the 7.5r16 tyre is 7.5 inches wide, and has an aspect ratio of 100% (ie the sidewall is 7.5inches tall).
    So overall diameter is 16" + 7.5" + 7.5"= 31 inches.
    a 235/85 tyre is ~32inches diameter.

    Steve.

    7.50's will fit 5.5" to 6" & RR Rims are 6".
I have an ex army set of 7.50's on some Rangie rims.

I have seen 235's on 6 inch land rover rims and they looked okay although I note many tyre manufacturers recommend min 6.5" rims. This bloke was running tubes too.

7.50's are fine on 6" rims.

    correct me if im wrong,.....So overall diameter is 16" + 7.5" + 7.5"= 30 inches.a 235/85 tyre is ~32inches diameter.

    OK

(A bit of maths for my benefit)

    7.5 x 16

    Diameter = 16 + 7.5 + 7.5 = 31"
    → 31" = 31 x 25.4 = 787.4mm
    Circumference: 787.4 x ╥ = 2472mm

    235 85 x 16

    Diameter: 2(235x0.85)+ 16 x 25.4 = 805.9mm (31.7")
    Circumference: 805.9 x ╥ = 2532mm

Therefore: 7.50s are 97.6% the circumference of 235/85's

In practice, they are never that accurate - perhaps best to measure the circumference.
