    Upgrade chip for 04 TD4 ?

    Folks

I did a quick search and didn't turn up anything specific.

Is there an upgrade chip available for the FL1 TD4 engine ?

My wife loves her Freelander but complains that it is lacking a bit of "get up and go" (she is a bit of a lead foot though).

She is more referring to having the confidence to pull out of a T intersection from a standing start.

    Regards

Mate, you can always get a V6, ( I own one) but like all petrol FL1's they have their problems!!!

    I can upgrade your system.

Cost is $990.00 and includes the programming module which you get to keep. This can later on be used on different LR vehicles if you upgrade!

It also has fault reading/clearing facility for the ECU.

Improvements in drive-ability are obvious once driven.

Gains of 28bhp and 55Nm of torque.
(Not bad considering the factory makes only 112hp std)

    Over to you

    Thanks Tombie

I was going to send you a PM if you didn't respond soon !

So I wouldn't need to send you the ECU ?

    Thanks

Interestingly, the Freelander does very low kilometres, lots of very short trips and probably has done most of its life.

We bought it from the major dealer here in Brisbane who had it as a demo vehicle and then a "run around" car for a while. It only had 25K kms on the clock and still has only just hit 40K

Anyway it was also starting to idle fairly roughly.

I have used a product called "Clean Power" from Cost Effective Maintenance before and it makes big claims about really cleaning out your fuel system, especially on diesels.

Well I had to drive the FL from Brissy down to Sydney and back last weekend so I put in some Clean Power each time I filled up.

The difference is remarkable. There is a marked increase in performance and it is running an awful lot smoother than before.

If your diesel Hippo is a bit choked up, try some Clean Power and take it for a good run, it will do wonders !
