Buying a second hand Range Rover Sport

I've decided to bite the bullet and get a second hand Range Rover Sport petrol. I had a brand new HSE Range Rover for the weekend and was rather inpressed with the 5.0 engine...but I prefer the appeal of the Sport compared to the Rangie HSE.

My price range is for a 2006-2007 vehicle. I'm not bothered if it's supercharged or not since I am looking for a reliable weekend cruiser and not a daily driver.

What problems should I be looking for when going for test drives, crawling around etc? Have they had any major recalls etc?
Whats their biggest cause of breakdowns and are the gremlins in the electrics/software etc all surfaced now?

Do they have the 'Sport' in Australia? I don't see much reference to them on here!

    Thx.

Hi Streaky, My son has a 2007 Supercharged RR sport that he bought 2nd hand with about 40k on it. Its a magnificent machine to drive (mind blowing accelleration for overtaking) but has had a few small but expensive issues since he bought it. At 60k he had to have the front bottom ball joints replaced because the tyres were wearing out on the inside - the front diff pinion seal needed replacing and there was a problem with the starter running on after the engine started and the sunroof leaks, other than that its a great machine to drive.....
    Cheers......Brian

So why isn't there a RRS sub-forum under the Range Rover forum?

The RRS is a distinct vehicle to the L322.

It's under the LR3 & LR4 Discovery forum since they share the same platform. The mods might want to move this.

My bad since I started the thread. Doh!

    Now there's some real logic!!

'Let's start the RRS forum but list it under Discovery'

I guess to fix it, the mods should. following their logic, write to LR and ask that the RRS be renamed the Discovery Sports and then everybody will be able to find the forum and there will be no more issues.
