    Question D300

If I bought a D300 would my lenses work on it?

I currently have a D80 which I believe has a different sensor to the D300 (Smaller)

    I currently have a

    • Nikon 70-200mm
    • Tamron 28-75mm xr Di
    • Tokina 12-24mm D11

I also have an SB800 speed light.

Thinking Thinking Thinking, I'm thinking whether I should save up for a D300 body before I have to start ploughing my funds into the mortgage, and before anyone says it I simply couldn't afford to extend it to the D300s

No nothing would work, so you would need to send it down to me for free :P

I would be interested to know, funnily enough that I too have a d80 and was contemplating on purchasing a D200 or 300 in the next year or two (I can buy yours when you upgrade again D

    I looked at upgrading to a D200...

but in all honesty there is not much between a 80 and a 200 to warrant the upgrade...they are pretty much the same camera but with a few extra goodies like a weather resistant magnesium body.

personally now I have looked I feel if you are going to upgrade you shold jump up a grade to make it worth it. I would love a D3, D300s or a D700 but I just cannot afford it. the next upgrade will be my only upgrade I would imagine.

I know what you mean! Thats why im keeping the D80 and just trying to spend on good glass as the D80's are a very good camera.

When my mate upgrade from a d200 to a d300s he was told the d300 was no longer available. Still reckon the glass is the most important

All your lens will work on the D300 (which have been replaced by the D300s)
I have noticed a HUGE improvement from the D200 to the D300s and I can telling you that the D200 is an awesome camera as well.
I have posted to images in THIS thread in which I have used the Tokina with the D300s.
When I got my D300s it was only $100 more expensive than the D300.
Do your shopping and be ruthless in negotiating if you get the D300

    Check here-
    Nikon Lens Compatibility

Looks to me like yes, they will fit.

D300 is still DX sensor from what I've read.

First off a D300s would be better as it has the newer image processing to the D300. I very much doubt there would be a D300 except well inside the second hand market.

All your lenses will work fine, in fact they would all work fine on a D700 or D3s/x. The Tamron and Tokina are DX lenses so on any DX camera they are a perfect match on an FX camera (D700, D3s/x) they will crop to the DX sensor size.

The SB800 is a no brainer and works a treat, the D300(s) has improved CLS functionality over the D80 so you have a little better off camera control with multiple speedlights.

Rumour is of a D90 replacement very soon too.

PM CowsGoMoo he has a D300
