    It's Arrived, but...

    Hi Everyone,

I finally collected my brand new D4 HSE a couple of hours ago. It has the surround camera system so I can enable tow assist etc. This is particularly good as one of the main uses for the truck will be as a tug for my van. The dealer fitted the brake controller and a dual battery system (under bonnet). They also fitted an anderson plug for the so that the van's batteries can be charged from the car and a connector and the wiring for the caravan's rear camera.

The service from the dealer has been exceptional up to and including a very detailed handover/takeover. The sales person went over almost every detail and my wife and I got into information overload at about the one and a half hour mark! The guys there really know their stuff.

Whilst we sitting in the car going through the touch screen controls my wife grimaces and says "something is not quite right but I can't figure what it is" We stop and look at the interior. Then the penny drops. We ordered an impenema sand exterior, arabica interior with walnut trim. My jaw dropped. The car was supplied with a matte black interior trim! It is not even an option on the HSE! By the time we realised the service area had closed. However I was assured that the interior trim will be changed. The sales chap said that this was the second HSE that had the same issue. I know for a fact that walnut trim was ordered as I saw the order! We shall see what happens next.

The moral of the story is ensure that you check every aspect of your order before taking delivery.

So saying all of the above...what a great ride. As others have said before and will say again. You can't wipe the permagrin off my face. I love the car and can't wait to take it for a decent spin tomorrow.

    Cheers

    George

If it's a mis-build, the the replacement trim will be covered under warranty. It might take a while for the replacement to arrive from the UK though.

There's been the odd one of these & some trims are so close to each other that some cars have had odd trims here & there which have taken a while to notice.

    Memory lane ...........

This takes me back to the early seventies . Dad ordered a Cortina 1600 XL
sedan ( Dagenham made ). When it arrived , we noticed it had front
bucket seats , pushbutton tuning radio and a GXL ( rpm/tacho ) binicle.
There was a supply hiatus and production line continued with higher
parts for a while. Loved that car ! They can't do it the other way around

    Hi George,

Dad told me yesterday about the trim issue. If you to get them to check the model option codes on the AS400 system to see if the system says it has walnut trim, if not get them to give you a letter stating it was a factory change.

With many insurance companies when you make a claim they simply provide the supplier with the vehicle's VIN to order the replacement parts. I have seen a number of cases where dealers have swapped trims, wheels etc and when the vehicle has been repaired by a panel shop has come back with a different trim which has caused issues in itself as the insurer will not pay for parts twice.

I know you will love the car.

    Cheers

Quite often the dealer will advise LR of a trim swap & it will be noted on the AS400 / Viking system.

Wheels are another matter. Wheel swaps between new cars are very common so nothing should be ordered via VIN.

    Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for your advice and I intend to follow it up with the dealer. I'll let you know how I get on. I spoke to your Dad on Friday.

As an aside when the salesman realised the foul-up you should have seen the look on his face, it was priceless. I don't know who was more shocked him or me!

    Steve: Regards to the folks.

    Cheers

    George
