    3" springs into 130

I have A set of 3' springs for my defender from dobinsons, wondering if i need to change caster correction if i fit them, any ideas?
they probably closer to 2.5" but i know i will need a ladder to get into the cab

What's the free length and what rate ?
Also what, if any bar work, winch, etc is fitted ?

Otherwise we really won't know how high the front end will sit.

I have/had 17" free length springs fitted, ending up with around 117/114mm between the bump stops after they'd settled after fiting.

It drove OK'ish, but does need more castor (only because I'm a fan of more castor. Directional stability and steering self centring is good IMO )

any free length spring above 440mm will give at least 75mm lift, spring rate will also need to be above 180lb for the front (without bar/winch etc) 220lb with. 220lb-250lb for the rear unladen.
not that ive done anything for 130's yet but i imagine the rear would have to be slightly stiffer due to their capacity.

for a genuine 75mm lift castor correction is a must.

    cheers phil

Front are 380mm free height and rear are 460mm free height. Sorry they are Lovells not Dobinsons, they do have a graduated rating but not sure where the paperwork with it on is.

380mm is only 15" so if they are 3" lift at normal ride height they will be stupidly stiff and you'll have bugger all articulation.

Stock 130 front springs are 225 lb/in, 15.3"/14.8" free length drivers side/passenger side and usually give around 65mm between the bump stops.

The springs I listed above are 220lb/in, 17" free length.

sorry rick i am confused, my truck springs must have softened up a lot since new as they are a lot shorter than the Lovells.
