85 110 County Fuel tank

What capacity is an 85 V8 county fuel tank?
From what I can work out from doing a search its probably 65L.
I put in just under 63L this morning after running out of fuel - plus the tank has a bit of a dent in it - so 65 would make sense.

I also need to have a look at the fuel warning switch, as it only flashed a couple of times (wasn't on solid). Thankfully managed to limp my way a couple of k's to the nearest servo and didn't have to walk. Upset a fair bit of traffic though.
First time I've run out of fuel in about 20 years

Somethings definitely not right on mine then.
Either I'm being too conservative with how full the tank is, the dent is bigger than I thought, or the pickup in the tank is leaving lots of unusable fuel.

Whats the pickup arrangement on these tanks - a fixed tube down from the top of the tank or just an outlet fitting on the bottom somewhere?

I had a look at mine and it works out to roughly 70L but I have a funny feeling mine is not original

Unless I am mistaken the V8 has an in-tank electric pump, so the pickup is built into that. It it is like the diesel, the fuel light comes on with about a quarter of a tank left, but this, and the fuel gauge reading, are very dependent on any bends in the float arm, and, of course, a big bump in the bottom of the tank decreases the capacity entirely from the bit that is left after the light comes on.

Mine has an external electric pump but I know the manual does refer to in-tank pumps on some V8 models.
The pickup screen is located on an arm which is combined with the sender unit assembly. It can be removed fairly easily with the tank in-situ by turning the locking ring on the LHS of the tank and removing the sender unit after disconecting the wires and fuel line connection.

Thanks for the info.
Mine is a V8 that's had a 200tdi conversion, so I'm not really sure how the tank is set up (assuming its the V8 tank but not 100% sure).
I was planning to pull it out for a repaint anyway before the bottom rusts away from mud trapped between the tank and the guard underneath.
Will work out exactly whats going on when I do that...
