    Moved from the stories thread

    My first post so hello,

I have been considering a LR for a while and have helped a couple of mates sort out what they needed in their LR purchase - finally the wife agrees that a RRS is right for her - a smaller vehicle for here around town and can still mix it down south or regular trips to the farm.

So Thursday I'm in Brisbane see a 2008 with everything that she would want if we were buying new and friday lunch time the deal is done and I'm driving it home to Perth 4350km home!

I can only say fantasic - I do alot of country KM every where and the RRS just kept on going I had heavy fog and rain from Port Augusta to Border Village you could just push thru and arrive a corners with complete confidence - Fantastic!

PS: 8.9 ltrs / 100km and alot of soap required!

    Bonnet Protector.

Due to my being such a good boss my staff gave me a Bonnet Protector for my Birthday a little while ago.
I fitted it today which was
    1. Simple
    2. Looks good.
So, the reason for posting is no other than that I now have a Bonnet Protector & it looks good!
Should stop stone chips on that blunt front as well.

    Off Topic Tyre Update

    DS,

Now that you are "back" i was hoping you might be able to provide some feed back on the Continental Cross Contact AT tryres you have.

I am close to (if not already) committing to put a set on the D3 and wanted to see how you are finding them after a few more months of use.

    Sorry for hijacking the thread.

    George

    George, PM sent.

For any others that are interested in an update:

Generally very happy with them. Have had the chance to do a few more long distance trips with them, including in some serious rain and still happy. I have also had the chance to take them off road properly and the performed really well. I didn’t do anything in any serious mud, but we don’t expect ATs to perform too well in Mud anyway. That said it is a very aggressive tread for an AT, so should do alright in the mud.

Perhaps my only bug bear with them having such an aggressive tread, and as I have mentioned previously they have a nasty habit of picking up stones. This is probably the most annoying thing with the tyres, as some of the stones just never get thrown from the tyres. I worry that this may be causing damage to the tyre, but not much I can about it really, as I drive on dirt every day and I hope it will improve as they were a bit.

The extra noise is not really an issue, you only really notice it when the radio is switched off….. at speed the wind noise is louder than the tyres…. So all in all a good choice.

Good luck and I would be interested to know how you go with them, so keep in touch.

    DS
