Aircon in Tdi Defender not working

... well not working at all I mean it doesn't really do much so I never really use it but I have a friend from down south visiting and so went to put it on today. Nothing happened Found one of the two 15A fuses (2nd from left) had blown. Replaced this and it blew as well, stuck a larger 25A fuse in and it was OK but the wire from the relay to the fuse got hot. It's a WA (98MY) VIN 300Tdi.

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for these A/C units or more information on them?

Don't do what I did and put a larger fuze in and then the loom got hot and caused an electrical fire.

have you got the Rave CD for the Defender as this contains the electrical wiring manual for the 300Tdi.

    good luck cheers Mark

Except that the air conditioner is an Oz made/fitted system.

I should have an Aussie A/C wiring diagram somewhere in the computer, I hope.

{edit} Sorry, looks like it's in the lap top, and I can't get the file out of that one......

Indeed - the RAVE CD doens;t contain the wiring diagram for it. But it's a pretty straightforward setup - two relays under the passenger seat control the blower in the cab, and the fan in front of the radiator. I'd be swapping these out first before following the cables for a potential short. You will find that most of the cables in the A/C wiring loom seem to be unused for some reason...

Had no clutch engagement on A/C compressor . Have a look on this channel go to page 21 and dated 4th April 2010. reads90.
This bit of info saved me hours, found the wiring harness connector loose on temp control unit.Cleaned with electro clean and refitted plug securely, all works fine. What I did note the blower fan for A/c worked and the Condensor fan[in front of radiator]worked, but no clutch engagement regardless where I placded the temp control switch.Hope this may help.

    Regards Rusty.

The wiring diagram should be in a post somewhere on this forum.

I posted it in reply to someone else.

I can't log on to my website at the moment to check the file name/location as I've forgotten my password.

Re location of these two relays under the passenger seat: The problem may be due to non conducting rusty terminals on them caused by the corrosive atmosphere in this compartment with the battery. Have moved mine out of there.

By gum, that's it. Thanks for that.

I've now uploaded it to the files area.

Ron, that's twice now you've provided me with that diagram, once by email years ago (and lost on my old HD when it crashed) and now here again.
