vac pump is leaking badly and seeming i'm in and around the lift pump and be covered in oil i thought i would do it at the same time as a preventative measure.

hopefully check the tappets and replace rocker gasket as it leaking too

    thanks mike

first tip - good idea to degrease the engine and dont assume what is at fault, a quick trip to car lovers and the drive back confirm i have bigger problems with the breather on the rocker cover

i'm now not so certain the vac pump is leaking

first issue is replacing the breather off the rocker cover, why? good question. when i brought the rig the bolt holding the breather thingy on was rounded so i just always remove the hoses and removed the rocker cover and breather together

parts of the plastic flange that sits against the rocker cover have now broken and fell off and a very hard o-ring is now exposed and oil is is running/spraying down the side of the motor. the hole thats feeds the breather has also been partly welded up which i also thought was strange

for years i have had a spare rocker cover so tomorrow i will pick up a new breather and bolt and fit the new second hand rocker cover. hopefully no more leaks and tan i will be able to see what leaks next, a bit more driving and i will see how the vac pump holds up
