Disco 3 underbody protection

I am interested to know if anyone has fitted any underbody protection for the gearbox of a Disco 3?
I'm starting to get a few dings in my exhaust, fuel tank cover etc., which is OK, but I and am a bit concerned about how the gearbox is exposed when going over some large rocks etc. particularly when negotiating steep hills with ruts.
I see that Rovacraft sells some Bearmach products that look ideal.

Has anyone ever wished they had had undebody protection or had if fitted and found it saved them from disaster?

You may want to check out GOE Australia - Land Rover D3 (LR3), D4 (LR4),FL2 and Range Rover Sport Training and info which I think is a sponsor. Gordon, the principal, uses these for himself but also sells them. On my old D3 I had both the transmission cover, the side rails, and the air compressor cover. I had a V8 which needed some mods on the transmission plate to the diesel. I know they saved me a new air compressor and I slipped off a big rock and had a loud "bang" on the transmission plate, which suffered a slight dent, so it may have saved the trans. Alas, the plates didn't safe the vehicle from the arsonists who stole and torched it

I'm planning to put on the same set of plates on my D4 in the next couple of months. I think it's sensible protection, particularly with the auto-lowering feature, but I do drive across big rusty red rocks out here in the west.

these look great . I don't seem to have any plastic cover over my transmission in the first place. Anyway, the GOE plates look great and I will probably get the one for the compressoir as well as the transmission and maybe also the suspension extension rods.
Its good to see an Aussie company making this gear - its a small cost over the life of the vehicle compared to getting stranded somewhere.

I have the GEO compressor plate, and transmission plate and both have scratches so good piece of mind

I have the transmission bash plate and desperately need the compressor plate if only I could get one......frustrating!

Definitely a good idea.... I've created some carnage under my D3 with some early day airborne stunts before I realized how much damage you can actually do under your D3.

Protecting that compressor alone would def be a good idea. I took mine off today for the overhaul and was surprised to see how exposed it really is from an off road point of view.

Ok, just hypothetically speaking, if someone bought an underbody guard from fleabay, only to discover that it was a WINCH version but the disco didn't have a winch - would it be possible to make it fit ?

The biggest difference seems to be that when a winch is fitted, the middle portion of the front bumper bar plastic is cut away. The winch-version guard hits against this when trying to bolt it in place.

Just hypothetically speaking....

(Alternatively, anyone interested in a winch-version sump guard ?)
