I noticed this colour coded (Izmir blue?) RAI on a RRS on the Range Rover SA club site - very schmik looking

						Speaking of Raised Air Intakes and snorkels and such like - does anyone know where we're up to with regard to options for a D4? I know the genuine one is available, but I was quoted around $1600 and I don't think that included fitting (but my memory is dodgy on this!). I did hear a whisper that at least one D4 has been spotted (in Qld I think) with a snorkel of some kind - maybe ordered direct from UK - but again, memory (or source) is unreliable on this detail.
I bought a heap of parts for my D4 direct from Duckworth Landrover in UK (they have an EBAY store). Service was excellent (all via email). Goods arrived within 10 days (door to door). As an example the RAI was 265 pounds (say $A459) plus duty at 5% and 10% GST plus freight - you will save a fortune compared with buying here in OZ and obviously if you buy say front and rear lamp guards, side door mouldings and other light stuff and spread the cost of freight - the whole process is well worth it!!

						Thanks guys - excellent information all round. Now, would anyone like to have their two-bob's worth about the relative merits of the genuine RAI and the Safari snorkel? What I've been told thus far is that the RAI is not fully waterproof as a standard fitment (but that this can be remedied?), but that it might be a little quieter (less wind noise). The Safari, of course, is waterproof, and - well, it's a Safari.
Then I guess there's the thorny issue of looks - some I've spoken to prefer the more aggressive Safari look, while other the more streamlined LR job. I guess I'm perhaps more interested in getting my air intake up above the red dust than I am about swimming across rivers, and I'd be more concerned about wind noise than looks - but I'm keen to hear the thoughts of others.
After some thought I decided to go with the LR snorkel even though it was more expensive. I like the look and was not keen to cut the inside of my guard to fit the Safari unit.
With regards to waterproofing I am confident it would be sufficient to protect me in any water crossing where I still have forward movement. If you google there are some interesting UK videos displaying the depth of water people have put their D3 into with the LR unit.
The main scenario I was concerned about was a river crossing where the water coming down a creek may "pile up" against the drivers side and cover the inlet . The RAI would certainly cover this possibility.
If you were stationary in water over the height of the perforated pipe in the guard IMHO it's time to get a tow anyway.
I believe that with the D4 they have changed the perforated pipe to a sealed unit which would improve the sealing of the LR RAI. Not sure if this pipe is now supplied with the D3/D4 RAI. It wasn't fitted to mine which was installed in June.
