This is a great forum, thankyou. I have seen the brilliant post by peterall (March 2010) and suspect my cable has broken. I was just wondering if that is consistant with all the usual whirring noises, and also I suspect the tailgate was not properly closed when it failed. Now it is hopelessly locked no matter what I do - key or emergency release (both buttons for three seconds). There is a lot to be said for good old fashioned door handles Thanks Jonathan
