    Hail damage nightmare

When my disco 2 got hail damaged I thought it would be written off but the insurer HBF decided to fix it. Ok i thought new shiny paint job great. Six weeks later not finished, the panel beater broke the plastic windscreen surrounds then scratched the new paint, forgot to replace the cracked windscreen and cracked headlight. left dents on the roof didnt alighn the doors after replacein them left overspray on the rubbers and plastics. Very poor job from one of Perth best repairers aparently. I saw jags , maseratis and a ferrari in the workshop so thought they new there stuff. I have rented a getz now for 6 weeks I could have bought one for that much. I wish it had been written off now I would be driving a new (second hand) range rover sport. I have called HBF assesor every day for a week and he wont return my calls. Lesson learned here dont use a health insurer to cover your vehicle they are not up to the task.

Oh almost forgot they lost my $2000 Jarman roof rack as well!

Thats just poor service - sounds like your getting the rough end of the pineapple.
They lost your roof rack?? More like they knew a guy with the same vehicle and he gave 'em a 6 pack....I hope it gets sorted.

they have removed the roof rack to do the repair, advise them that they "find" or replace at their cost, you have a problem that it could be considered a civil matter (as in happened due to a transaction) but I personally think Larceny would stand. So start with them and then move to Police and consumer affairs if no success.... consumer affairs should be told anyway I think!

what time frame did they quote originally? and did you choose the repairer or your insurer?...if they did I think it may be worth approaching them for some sort of conversation about them dipping in on at least part of the vehicle hire?

good luck... and if no luck tell the repairer and the insurer you intend writing to all the australian land rover clubs and advising in writing and photos of the poor service youve recieved-- its not a threat just a service to others so they are not inconvienienced..

this is thru a health fund?
for gods sake dont get sick mate!

    Pffft......thats nothing.

My Disco was "lost, gone....don't know where it is" for more than two days

Mine had paintless dent removal and conventional repairs. Paintless dent do not spray or any finishing as such and the insurance had to organize someone else to complete the repairs. I intervened and wanted the conventional repairs to be performed by my preferred repairer.

My insurance acknowledge my wishes and said 'we will flat tray your vehicle to your repairer.' I rang my repairer to tell him 'should turn up today or tommorrow. A day and a half later it still had not shown up.

I then rang my insurance and asked for the status and the location of my vehicle. They said 'we will ring back'

24 hrs later I get a call from my repairer which he told me that my insurance has just rung and asked "Is the car there?" 'No, we're waiting for it!"

An hour later I receive a call to say 'We have your vehicle and it will be at your repairer in the hour'

Painless dent has processed all the paperwork but just didn't make the call for the pickup. Their assumption was that it was gone and on its way to my repairer.

It was still in the holding bay area of the building that they leased.

With the roof rack I would be short and blunt. It will be back on my vehicle in 5 mins or you will replace it with a new one emidiatly. If not ring the cops and report it stolen while in their care and that they claim to have no idea of it's location.
Then ring the insurance company while still in the workshop and report a breakin to your car and that the roof rack has been taken.
Get as many photo's of the poor work and walk out and then back in requesting a warranty repair for useless workmanship.
If they are this bad it might be worth insisting on independant assessment of the vehicle.
