    Brake shoe advice needed

The trailing shoes on these cars don't have a return spring, it just sits there . I've noticed on my rear brakes, the trailing shoes 'push out' onto the drum , rather than being 'pulled inwards' towards the cylinder ,
, this is caused by the the spring across shoes down low.

Is that normal ? Or is something wrong ?

It looks like the trailing shoe would wear very quickly as its rubbing all of the time ?

There isnt any snail adjuster for the trialing shoes either .

hey Mike how r ya mate? hope you are well.

are you talking about the brakes on your 80" ?

i'll try and help you out.

i know on my 86" the rear shoes have a snail adjuster only on the leading shoes, and also a return spring on the top and bottom. the trailling shoe theres that spring at the bottom and if its and old one it can caus problems as it stretches over time. i wonder if it does rub against the drum? i'll find a pic off my Landy for reference.

    thanks

Ah thanks for that Chris ,

One friend has fitted snail adjusters on the trailing shoes ( 1951 80" ) and he says its a very good result . He has a high pedal with no side affects .
