    bashed up long range tank

    Hi All,
    I had a great day on Sunday doing the power line track here in perth. The 130 was faultless and handled pretty much every thing thrown at it.
    I cleaned her up and was doing a visual inspection (done alot now) and noticed that I had smashed the stabiliser bar bracket almost flat against the chassis. All that was holding it was the long ranger fual tank, also took a hit but no puncture. The tank is pretty bashed up from the previous owner and the above mentioned bracket now buggered, I am thinking of replacing the tank.

    Who has had the most succes with which tank and what do you do about the rubbish stabiliser bar bracket?? Its a 130 TDI 96 model.

    Cant really answer your question just be careful if you remove the stabilizer bar.
    If you roll it it will give your insurance company an out

    Hey Mal does the Lone Ranger tank rob you of much ground clearance. I had one in a Rodeo and it virtually made the whole left side of the car the same height as the diff banjo. Subsequently it got pretty banged up. Lone Ranger said the dints actually help with strengthening the tank, it's like putting a seam crease in a flat plate of steel.

    I have a 130 puma like the idea of bigger fuel compactly. I have have seen lone ranger tanks are around 130lt, but somewhere I saw another brand of 175lt, but can't recall where or who's brand.

    I guess we will both wait and see.

    Sill tanks are available for a 130 but it sounds like you may well beat them to death as well.

    As for the anti-roll bar bracket, straighten it and add a steel plate stiffener inline with the chassis rail. This will stop it flattening.

    The short answer is no, the tanks are pretty well tucked up but it seems if you drive off a drop off a tad too fast the tank acts as a skid plate, or as in my case the stabiliser bar bracket took most of the knock. I have googled tanks and there seem to be 3 or 4 manufacturers all around the 120 -130 L capacity. I am still investigating though.
