    Oil Switch Location

    Hi All,

My 96 300 tdi defender oil light is coming on at idle only, after driving about 20km. I recently replaced the oil filter and oil with what is recommended in the manual and as the oil level is slightly high so I though I might check out the oil pressure switch. Is this the correct course of action and is the pressure switch located just next to where the oil filter screws on , or elswhere ?

Yes, the switch screws in near the filter. Obviously has a wire coming out of it.

How many kms has your engine done ? Other TDI300 owners are reporting problems with big end bearings wearing around 250k, manifesting itself by the oil pressure light coming on.

400HPongas had a 200TDI so not sure how relevant his thread is to your problem

My 300 tdi has 150 000 km, has been serviced regularily . I did the last oil change because it had only gone 4000 km since last service , but was 18 months ago, so thought I'd put fresh oil in.

Sacred blue mon amy , its DEJAY VOO
Hey rick130 , have we seen this somewheres before ?
Another glass of Shiraz please !!!
    Yep , I had identical symptoms but it was in a 200TDI and not a 300TDI .
Now offcourse a 300 TDI has a overhead cam and no cam bearings and a oil pump that is wrapped around the crankshaft , so my problem once found could not apply to a 300TDI ,especially at only 150,000k instead of 400,000K .Cest imposseeble !
    Whaddya reckon Rick130 ?
However I or should I say we , would be able to trouble shoot the issue , given the right infomation !!!
