Nth Stradbroke destinations?

Going over to Straddie on the weekend. Don't fancy driving on the beach much. Are there any inland tracks there? Nothing too strenuous as taking the family.

There is an inland track via Key Hole Lagoons.
Start at Dunwich and head out to Brown Lake, follow your nose east and you will end up on an easy track, sometimes a bit sandy, past the lagoons.
Follow it North and it comes out on the main road crossing the island. It joins this road only a couple klms from Point lookout northern beaches.

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be have closed that track.
It is gated at both ends.
The only access to the keyholes now is from Main Beach via a track up one of the creeks.

I think the track from the Amity Turnoff to Blue Lake is still open if you want to try that. It runs along the high ridge spine of the Island and has great views.

Are you talking about the track that goes north - south around the lakes that are parrallel to the ebach?

It was open a few weeks ago. Keep an eye out for my number plate in one of the water holes.

It ends up back on the beach.

Yes, you're right, you can get access from the Southern end, but as you noted you do end up back on the beach. The old "Fishermans Road" through to Pt Lookout is gated.

Oh I see, I didn't know about that track.

Stradbroke Is Ferries had a special going during winter, $50 return as long as you caught the 6am ferry over. Was a cheap way to get to Straddie even if it did involve an early start.
