A few resto questions

Hi all, was just wondering about a couple of things. Firstly if i have any questions regarding my resto should i post them in my resto thread or start a new one for each topic? Also where is the cheapest/fastest place to get a parts manual for my 55 86' ? i was looking at dunsfolds site and soon realised i needed one to make sense of their parts list. Lastly is there any place, hopefully in Aus that has chassis repair sections. I dont mind having a go at repairing crossmembers but i would like to purchase a complete rear chassis member (at the rear with the wings and hole for pto) since it is so prominent and obvious. I have a repair section without wings?outriggers but to use this and retain the wings that i have is a pretty involved welding job for me. Any advice appreciated, thanks - Lyall.

I suppose it's kind of up to you - but most of us just add to the one thread - unless we are discussing a specific different issue, problem or topic. Maybe start yourself a general resto thread and just add into that.

A genuine workshop manual lists all the part numbers - you can buy one from the Series One club in England.....

I'm sure others here can help with this question, but maybe if all else fails contact Alex from the S1 shop in Victoria - I'm sure he can offer you some good advice.

Lyal, just make sure that you give a good search through the site first...there is a thread currently going where people are "peeved" by repeat questions....

That said, most start and maintain one thread (so its like a history of your cars ressurection!) and its your thread ask what you ike in there!!!

Joining the Series 1 club is both easy and worthwhile in my opinion. And they send you a magazine to read every couple of months as well as getting access to lots of valuable info and some parts not otherwise available.

Problem is there are too many clubs to join

101 Club - expensive
LRCACT - OK
Jag Club - Ok
REMLR - Cheap
AULRO - No too bad
AMEC - OK

So without the Series 1 club - I am looking at something like $450 a year in club related subs.

Overseas clubs can be OK but often you are paying for a mag every now and then.

Joining the Series One Club is definitely a good move - I agree Tote. The Legend makes the fee worthwhile in itself. You'll find a host of info and help.

thanks all. joined the series 1 club today and bought a parts manual on cd off ebay for $5 plus delivery. a mate is going to help assess whether the rear chassis member is fixable (prob with his help). working away for the next couple of weeks which will provide some extra funds for brand new parts!
