TD5 head gasket/bolts, etc., $580

Is $580 about the normal price for a head gasket inlet and exhaust gaskets plus a set of head bolts, Just got it from a mates engine reco shop but he cant get the dowels, or who else should I try, (NSW) Thanks again

Go direct to Landrover for these off the later TD5 (2002 on).

When I did my 1999 Defenders head in 2001 we made the dowels (and drilled expansion holes through them).

On my wifes car when I did the head gasket (a 2001 Disco with 240 000 km) brought a kit from the UK that had factory dowels in it (in the factory packaging). They fitted straight in.

I got them from LR. The genuine steel dowels were a straight fit in my 2001 which originally had the plastic dowels, and the dowels, all gaskets, seals, head bolts and so on came from LR.

Price up with LR but otherwise order out of the UK. Even with postage it will be a LOT cheaper.
