My rear door lock wouldn't lock for a while till I adjusted the door striker. But yours sounds like a Fraser induced corrosion problem. Shoot the locks with some wd40 or similar, or at least a decent blast of fresh water.

My drivers door went stiff for a few days (last July) then got stuck in lock mode. Took the trim off and found a little plastic lug had broken. Looked like it was meant to hold the linkages in place and they had kinked at a sort of elbow. Just popped it backed (sort of like a dislocated shoulder) and it worked perfectly. I just don't get too vigorous with the key when opening.

What vehicle? Or are we supposed to guess?

I had the same trouble on my day old Puma wagon.
My son then explained about child locking systems
Well... how was I to know? Never had a car with child locks before. Then again, never had a car with central locking either.

Might be a getter idea to use graphite powder or something to lube the locks as wd40 or similar will end up attracting dust and crap and /really/ getting stuck.

Good point. I was thinking it'd already have salt/gunk/corrosion in it, so something pressurized would be good to clear it out. Maybe an electronics cleaning spray followed by graphite when its dry. But graphite alone won't budge any already accumulated gunk.

    ok sorry
    its 2000 110 wagon

its not the rear wagon door it is the passenger door drivers side

the lock latch on the door trim will not slide up to unlock so i dont think it is the child lock(dont think it has child locks)

when i try to unlock it i can feel it jamming on something near the door handle on the outside

ill have a better look at it this week end

    thanks

Ah - yes mine did that. Previous owner ended up drilling through the door trim to unlock it manually. There was a little plastic "thing" that broke
