Melbourne URGENT HELP wanted with installing wiring loom!

Hi,

I got a new wiring loom from the UK for my Series 1, 88", 1958. The body and all parts are repainted, reconditioned, regreased, engine is out and ready to be put back in.

But, trying to figure out the wiring loom by myself is not really working out that well.

For someone who knows what he is doing this is maybe an afternoon. For me.... it can take weeks. I am partially colour blind and with the loom in parts, the wiring colour codes, and the diagram it doesn't make it easier.

Is there a good samaritan out there who has experience with wiring looms or electrics in general? Anyone willing to give me a hand to bring it back to its original glory?

Anyone who can help me this coming weekend (23, 24 Oct 2010) to get the wires connected?

Or can you recomend anyone I could (affordably) hire for (half) a day?

Car is currently in friends their paint shop in Oakleigh. If you can not do weekends but a weekday let me know asap and I will take a day off work.

Any help/suggestion/referral is welcome!

while I cant make it down what we can try is this...

Put a small wrap tag label on all the ends of the wires and label them in a way that you can understand

take a series of pics of the loom from a large over view of it all layed out flat on the ground zooming in on each main sub section and its terminators

scan the layout pages that typically come with the loom and then someone on here can make up a patch over sheet for you to work from.

Ive done it before, its not the fastest way but it does work. (it also leaves a history online for those that follow after you.

pics while your putting it in and hey presto you now have an online tutorial on how to install a wiring loom.

That is a good idea indeed. However, I did start already and put in the main part of the loom. Some of the wiring I did label, but a lot I just couldn't figure out. Makes me also doubt myself with the ones I already did. Some I just numbered start and end as I had no clue what they belonged to.

Indeed I should have made pictures of the Loom from the start. It would be good to have an online tutorial. However, now I don't want to remove what I put in already.

I want to finish this as soon as possible, because I am using space at my friends place for this. Otherwise I would wait until next weekend and make the pictures of what I have so far. I would even go back and remove what I did to follow your suggestions. But I am under pressure from two sides, one they need the space back, two I want to get it finished asap. After this I need to bring it to the engine reconditioning guys to put the engine back in.

I will make pictures next weekend, but I hope someone can come and help then, or before????

I will try to make a tutorial from that as to help others.

I am not colour blind but have not put a loom back into a series one yet. If you need some one to read the colours I could probably spare a couple of hours.

If the documentation is any good I would back myself to get it sorted.

I know what you mean. I had planned to have my Land Rover finished ages ago. But last March we got a baby girl and its kinda hectic...

Lucky me, my wife nand daughter are now abroad visiting family. But when they come back the whole family comes.... So now is the time to finish my other love...
