    Uniden UH078SX

I am considering buying this handheld unit, Uniden UH078SX, instead of an installed UHF radio for in car convoy communication.

Anyone had experience with this unit.

    1. How good is the receiving range?

    2. Tranismitting range?

    3. Can an external antenna or a higher gain antenna be atached to it?

    4. Durability?

    thanks

If you are not in a hurry, may be worth waiting till they have the 80 channels sorted, then the radio you get can be compatible etc...

Re the handheld.... I have a little elcheapo unit 1/2 watt, and car to car in convoy, or between spotter and driver, fine reception and transmit.
With a long convoy, typically I hear what is going on with other vehicles, but often only the nearest cars can hear me, so in convoy, someone sometimes has to relay messages.

    I have a Uniden Sundowner UH-056.
The accessories I regret not getting when I bought it:
    desktop charger
    12v lighter socket adaptor
    remote speaker/microphone kit

It's the full 5w (max) power output.
