GPS Track Mapped to the web

For the gear freaks amongst us. This is a track from a recent trip to Freshwater and Fraser Island. When in mobile range it was sent in real time.

Follow the link and scroll to the map at the bottom of the page. Drag the map to Qld.

The company HQ is in Melbourne and they use this to track the yacht in the ocean races (Syd-Hob etc) and I talked them into letting me do it for an excursion and to change the logo to ‘Land Rover’. The water short cut was a result of the phone battery going low and sacrificing the GPS… that is until I noticed the child’s iPods plugged in and put the phone back on charge.

There are possibly other ways to publish this kind of information but this worked well enough.

Have a play and turn on the Aerial (satellite Imagery) and you can see the tracks are pretty close to the recorded location.

 Enjoy.

 Cheers PK
