Series stub axle on a 110 County?

I'm back from holidays and building up the rest of the front axle on my 110. I had to strip one of the swivel housings and found it was fitted with a stub axle from a series vehicle. I was wondering whether this was common (and also a little concerned as to whether it was dangerous).

I've replaced it with a 110 stub axle I had on the shelf. The main difference seemed to be the machined groove for the lock tab on the earlier version, but they may also be different material thicknesses and so on.

Does anyone know if this was a common swap?

AFAIK only Stage 1 stubs can be interchanged. They run two bearings the same size, like coillers. I wouldn't be concerned - and would happily use stage 1 bits instead of 110 bits.

How do you know it wasn't from a very early 110?

I don't, come to think of it. It just looked a bit odd. I really should drink less in the workshop.
