Sounds like a happy experience all round.
Have you tried the Video mode yet?
On friday we were running out the door heading up the Sunshine Coast. Our current point and shoot digital had just **** itself and was not great to start with. I had done a little dreaming and homework recently, and had previously owned a Canon SLR with a 28-200 Tamron years ago.
So being my birthday and we are lucky to have a Digital Camera Warehouse just down the road, I had 10 minutes to persuade the good wife we needed a new camera before we drove past the shop.
Not only that, I also had to make her see the sense in a 2K camera.
Well somehow I did, and left the shop with a Canon 550D. The package come with a Canon EF-S 18-200, and I grabbed spare battery, uv and polariser filter to go.
Well......talk about a pig in ****. Grabbed some great pics of the kids at the beach and in the unit. You know the ones where you capture their daily facial expressions whist they are up to something. So natural looking and great to have no posing.
It was awesome to have something that processes quickly, zooms and focuses fast, all with clarity.
The wife thinks I'm a genius......can you believe that

yes the wife is good to me. Kind of did the same thing with the 130 purchase.
For a hack, I am looking forward to re-ignighting an interest in photography, helps me see a world in a different light so to speak.
Some of the pics that show up on this forum are truly amazing and very encouraging.
I was once a firm believer, you need a good subject to get great photos, and though this may be somewhat true, it's really how you see whats before you, and how you frame it.
thanks for the inspiration guys.

As soon as you feel confident with your camera, if you like nature join a critique forum and learn for the inputs in your work and in the others.
Is a good way to develop skills in the composition of an image.
