Series I 2L exhaust valve adjustment

So - I thought I'd adjust the valves on my 86" today.

Popped off the rocker cover only to discover someone has stolen all of my exhaust valves

I've set all the inlet valves at .010 (they were all a bit loose), but wasn't game to take off the other plate underneath the exhaust manifold to tackle the exhaust valves, as I wasn't sure if I would end up with oil all over the driveway.

If I want to do the exhaust valves, am I looking at a messy job?

    Thanks
    David

And another question on setting the valves. The LR manual says set warm, but there is a label affixed to the rocker cover that says set cold. Which is correct?

Removal of the side cover to adjust the exhaust valves should only result in a few drops of oil spilling at most. I can't remember the details (hot/cold) for that engien, and have no references with me.

OK - thanks. Just making sure I wasn't going to get a litre of oil out or whatever.

I think I will go with the manual's suggestion of warm and see how far out they are.

    Cheers
