    Any P38'ers in Albury/Wodonga?

    Hey all,

I've pulled up stumps in Albury for the night, going in for a wheel alignment and balance in my new P38 in the morning then headed off for Nowra after that!

If anyone has experience in any of the following and has time before say 10am, feel free to drop me a line on 0408 784 375.

    - Sunroof not seating properly. All functions work, but it sags on the right hand side when in the "closed" position causing annoying noise while on the highway

    - Power steering hose clamp (upper by the looks) needs to be replaced

    - Cruise Control not working at all (sucks because it's 'only' a 3500km trip)!

I'd do it all myself but I have no tools on me other than my trusty Faultmate!! Not even a damn leatherman!

I'll be off around the 10am mark, so if your keen to take a look at the old girl or even just catch up, feel free to call or message back on here!

    Cheers
    Keithy

Sunroof: pop off the side trims from inside (slide forward? to remove) & you can then see the 4 screws that secure the glass. They have some degree of adjustment so hopefully that will get it sitting right.

Otherwise, some decent duct tape will quieten it down for the trip.

Cruise: check the basics first; vac hoses, brake switch position. Does the main switch illuminate?

Not sure on the rest, but I know that:

    - cracked/leaking or poorly sealed vacuum hoses on cruise control can be a common problem. Very cheap and easy fix if thats your problem.

    - my 'pretty pigs' sunroof also dropped (at the rear) when I backed her (with wheel barrow on roof) into my car port earlier this year... Until it got repaired properly, I man handled (read forced) it back up and into place a couple of times. It stayed put reasonably well for a month or two.

GO WITH SCOUSES ADVICE ON THE ROOF... FINNESSE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN FORCE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!!

    Cheers fellas!

Paul also suggested checking that the bulbs in the brake lights work (what's funny is that one of them has blown)...

I might buy a cheap leatherman and screwdriver set tomorrow and suss it out!

The main cruise control switch is working fine, just doesn't take over when you press the magic button!

As for the sunroof... I might put up with it if I don't have any luck trying to adjust it! As i said earlier, it moves up when you tell it to open, and slides back perfectly when you open it that way, just when it's 'closed' it doesn't want to sit right!

Time to sink another quick bourbon then i'm off to P38 dream land!

    Cheers

Does your P38 have the Rhino sportz bars? If so, do the bars have the rubber insert for the slot which runs along the top of the bars? If not they create a loud noise when travelling above 60-70kph due to the venturi effect ...like blowing across the top of an empty bottle...

Yes Hoges, mine has those exact bars! The inserts are in mine, however on the right hand side it looks like the previous owner has done a home-made tie down for the load they may have carried, so the rubber inserts are not seated for the first 5" on the right! No noise from them that I noticed, but i'll be removing their setup and putting the rubber back in once i'm home!
