    2007 D3 SE - no mp3's??? :(

    Hi All,

I just picked up my 2007 D3 SE and was pretty dissapointed that the stereo can't play mp3's!!?? ....was this reserved for the premium audio system only?

Also searched the car for some time for the Aux plug socket, and then did a search on here to find it's only used for a factory/dealer fitted DVD or the premium system??

No AUX socket. You have to fit one yourself which is pretty easy I think. There's a thread here somehwere for this.

you can wire in a jack plug to aux wiring on stereos with six buttons,
if you have stereo with nine preset buttons you already have a jack plug in rear of centre console, call australs and ask for brian for more info

I thought the 07 D3 SE was basically the same trim standard as the 07 RRS. So yours does not have a six stacker radio in the dash but the earlier single CD? If it is the 6 stacker it should play MP3s.

If yours does have an Aux socket it is in the back of the centre console behind a flap - designed to be used by noisy teenagers in the back seat - not silly old farts in the front.

    Thanks for your replies.

I have the single CD unit, not the 6 stacker, hence why I wasted 30 mins of my life searching for an Aux socket that doesn't exist, even though the button on the unit itself sits there proudly.....

I've found a few threads on fitting the aux socket, so I'll give that a go. It's seems there 3 options:
    1. Remove the head unit and wire in jack plug at the socket.
    2. Remove passenger kick panel and wire to plug there (see link above)
    3. Remove blanking plate/pocket at back of centre console (where the premium sound pack equipped cars have a number of input options + 12v socket), and dig around for the connector that would have been used in the higher spec models.

This is a good thread that covers all 3 options: DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Aux connector

The lack of mp3 support is more annoying! I've just sold a 6 year old Rav4 that had a 6 disk changer and mp3 support, so I expected the D3 to have it! I know I should have checked before buying, but I was in wonderland signing the docs!! ...not that it would have stopped me
